DAUNT SAC HOSTS “ECOJEL” LECTURE ON JELLYFISH IN IRISH WATERS

Many thanks to Dr Tom Doyle of the  Coastal and Marine Resources Centre (CMRC) at Haulbowline for a great lecture at the Trident Hotel, Kinsale on Friday 7th. This was a really comprehensive lecture dealing with jellyfish identification as well as the factors which can lead to an increase in jellyfish numbers globally. Tom is looking for help from Irish divers to discover whether jellyfish numbers are increasing in Irish waters. We can assist by noting sightings of jellyfish and providing him with other useful information such as depth at sighting, numbers seen and water temperature. This information can be relayed to Tom via the website www.jellyfish.ie.
