DAUNT SAC AT REGIONAL DIVE WEEKEND CAHIRCIVEEN

Fantastic turnout from clubs within and even outside the region. Some decent weather and lovely diving; Cuas Diarmada was the favourite of the weekend. Underwater cameras were whipped out left right and centre – Lidl has done well by Daunt members! On the other end of the camera galaxy, Oliver produced the Goliath to our Davids – prepare to be wowed everyone! Chris, looking strangely handsome this weekend, made lots of new friends via his mysterious alter ego who has yet to be officially named – suggestions welcome. DAUNT SAC DIVES OYSTERHAVEN

Lovely sun and despite a nippy northeasterly which made for a fun boat trip, Daunt members took to the waters for two dives today. Congratulations to new member Kieran on his first boat dive; no bother to him! Butterfish and the laziest dogfish in Irish waters spotted by John ; plenty spider crabs around as well. No (visible!) jellyfish to report back to Tom Doyle yet. Looking forward to the regional get together next weekend.

DAUNT SAC HOSTS “ECOJEL” LECTURE ON JELLYFISH IN IRISH WATERS

Many thanks to Dr Tom Doyle of the  Coastal and Marine Resources Centre (CMRC) at Haulbowline for a great lecture at the Trident Hotel, Kinsale on Friday 7th. This was a really comprehensive lecture dealing with jellyfish identification as well as the factors which can lead to an increase in jellyfish numbers globally. Tom is looking for help from Irish divers to discover whether jellyfish numbers are increasing in Irish waters. We can assist by noting sightings of jellyfish and providing him with other useful information such as depth at sighting, numbers seen and water temperature. This...
